Take-home whitening,
at your own pace.

Professional whitening gel with custom-fitted trays made from impressions of your own teeth, used at home when it suits you.

How take-home whitening works

We take impressions of your teeth and have thin, clear trays made to fit them precisely. You wear the trays at home with a professional-strength whitening gel, for a set period each day over a couple of weeks. Because the trays are made for your mouth, the gel stays where it is meant to be and away from your gums.

Why custom trays matter

Over-the-counter kits use a one-size tray or strips that rarely follow the shape of individual teeth. A poor fit means uneven contact with the tooth surface and more gel escaping onto the gums, which is the usual cause of irritation. Custom trays address both.

What to expect

Whitening works on natural tooth structure. Results differ from person to person depending on the starting shade and what is causing the discolouration, and we will give you a realistic sense of what is achievable for your teeth before you start. Some people notice temporary sensitivity during treatment, which usually settles once whitening finishes.

  • Existing crowns, veneers and fillings do not change colour, so they may need reviewing afterwards to match
  • Discolouration from surface staining generally responds better than discolouration from within the tooth
  • Results are not permanent, and topping up with your existing trays is straightforward

An examination first

Whitening is only appropriate once we know your teeth and gums are healthy, so we will check for decay, cracks and gum problems before recommending it. Treating those first gives a better and more comfortable result.
